Research demographic for my target market

 

In today's session, we learned about target markets for our projects. We learned that every design project should know and understand its target market. Every target market should NEVER be 'everyone'; therefore, they should have a specific market to aim your advertising, marketing, and resources to the specific target audience.

When you are looking for a target market it is always advisable to consider the following factors:

-Demographics

-Sociographics

-Psychographics

-Geographics 

-Behaviours


For this post, I am to do research on demographics for my target market and write about it.

DEMOGRAPHICS OF INSTAGRAM AND USAGE.

Instagram is an American app that is used to uploads and shares photos and videos through social networking to friends and followers. It was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Kriger.

INSTA reels allow the user to create short videos this could be promotion, entertaining or even educative videos. 

CASE STUDY.

-1 Billion Instagram users are active monthly.

-Majority number of people using Instagram are ranged between the age of 25-34 which is 33.1%.

-Females takes the largest percentage of the Instagram user of 57% while males are 43%.

-Estimated time spend on Instagram is 29 minutes per day.


Instagram demographics.

 

Instagram is the second-largest social network, Facebook is the first one hence its fast growth is well-documented.

Instagram provides a platform for the ad, therefore, giving opportunities for cross-promotional for brands.

Instagram highlights the value of Instagram stats for influencers and content for motivation.

The use of Reels highlights in Instagram has led to competition with TikTok hence creating opportunities with higher-earning demographics.

Instagram content statistics.

25% of Instagram engagement rate fell this year. However, industries like Higher Ed and sports groups still managed to appear on top.

This year, all industry posting pattern declined by just 8% on Instagram meaning that brands are still posting on this channel. The app still goes on dividing the attention of viewers beyond feed posts with features like Reels and IGTV.

Despite the engagement rate falling on Instagram Higher Ed is clear the winner frequency posting though second place sports groups may appear different.
