Initial ideas for the main project.

Image
Before my project sign-off, I am supposed to blog a post on the initial idea of a project idea that I would like to for the main project. This will help my tutor know how well I understand the project. For my main project, I will be doing a photography project with a city and urban photography theme. James Maher is one of the photographers that inspired me to this kind of photography. I visited his page and got good images and tips and techniques that I found to be helpful to me during this project. There are tips and techniques used for this kind of photography including when to shoot, how to shoot, and what setting to use. A good city photographer should love to walk and explore to get better shots. Therefore it is advisable to use a lighter camera for easy movement. Mirrorless cameras are best for this kind of photography as the quality of the images is incredible. According to Maher (no date)  " The cameras with interchangeable lenses on the list, such as the Fuji X-T line, th...

SMART Objectives.

Smart Objective, By the end of the project, I will  create a photographic project that will collect between 8-10 images. I will be using the concept of  City and urban landscape photography inspired by James Maher and other photographers who do this kind of photography . I will loan the equipment that I need for my project from the school or alternatively if the school is not back to loaning due to covid-19 I will download an app to improve and develop my understanding of manual photography techniques. I will frame and compose my images in-camera. These will be colored and will quality check in Lightroom or Photoshop. These will then be placed on the portfolio page on my website with a conceptual introduction   MY SMART OBJECTIVE FOR THE PROJECT. Specific- by the end of the deadline I want to achieve doing thorough research of photography, learn about different types of photography work. For this project, I will focus more on  City  and urban landscape ph...

Research post (one of the idea).

After coming up with 3 cool ideas I am supposed to add a research post for the ONE idea. So for this post, I decided to do research on one of the ideas which is; Street photography source;  street photography workshops First I wanted to understand what is meant by the term Street photography. Street photography is a genre of photography that records everyday lifestyle in public areas. She explains that this type of photography does not essentially have a social purpose in mind however they prefer capturing moments and activities without the knowledge of strangers, (Blumberg N, no date). Street photography is far more than shooting taking pictures of strangers in public areas. Interesting facts about street photography is that you do not need unique or distinctive access, therefore you can always use the accessible camera. What is required is a good eye, time, and a little patience, (Coomes P, 2010) Also after doing research I learnt that street photography does not have to take ...

Three amazing ideas.

Image
In this post, we were asked to come up with three cool ideas for my project. Each idea is supposed to be accompanied by an image to exemplify it ( should have a source underneath it). I will then expand the ideas by adding more explanation. Here are the three ideas; 1. Creating at least 10 images with a street photography theme . source;  street photography Thought of creating a photographic project which will be a collection of between 6-10 images using the concept of street photography inspired by Linda Wisdom and other street photographers. For my project I will either choose to do street photography with a theme of homelessness or transportation. This will depend on the agreement of the theme with my tutor during project sign off. The aim is to improve and develop my understanding of manual photography techniques. These will be in the colored mode and will quality check in Lightroom or Photoshop.    2. Creating a short film of 3-5 on different types of camera movemen...

ICEBREAKER-Me as a machine post

Image
Hello,  In today's lesson, we had an icebreaker session where we were to sketch or draw a machine that represents me. Am a photograph lover so I sketched a camera.  The drawing is not perfect as I am not good at drawing. A camera is a very sensitive machine and so do I.  I am that person who keeps records of every detail I come across as a camera does when shooting.

WELCOME TO MEDIA PROJECT II

Image
Hey there, Welcome to the new term, I am so happy to have you here, my name is Mary Muthoni, a student at De Montfort University studying Media and Communication.  I am using this blog for my learning, post contextual results, and keep my records on elements that I will have developed in class and also skills that are related to my progression route. I will use this blog to publish my assignments in class throughout the term. The final outcome of this blog will be presented in form of a digital portfolio demonstrating my ability to explore and develop my ideas. To begin with I would like to talk about a photographer who inspires me in the field of photography ( street photography).  source;  Linda Wisdom- street photographer Linda Wisdom is a street photographer from London. Her love for photography started as an accident. A photographer loaned her a DSLR camera to learn about photography basics. Within two months of her training, that's how she realized that her work mos...
