RESEARCH CLASS EXERCISE

In todays class we learnt about what is Research and the  forms of Art, Design and Media research.Since my progression route is under media and communication i am going to do a Research of Media.We learnt that there are three forms of research i.e research INTO, research THROUGH and research FOR

We defined Research as "the systematic investigation into, and study of, materials, and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions"

CLASS EXERCISE.

1.Name something you have researched in the past for art, design or media.

Recently i have done research on two photographers ;Ami Vitale and Antonia Gibotta.


2.Explain how you researched this 

I started by searching for their biography using different internet sources so as to get a clear background information about the two photographers.I used two sources that i found helpful or rather they met my objectives of doing the research.I wanted to make sure that the two internet sources would help me understand their field of work and would also inspire me for my studies.Moreover i started to write my post using their images which i  found them helpful for own project.


3.What facts did you discover?

Ami Vitale-Born in 1971(age 49years)

She have received several awards such as World Press Photo Award for General News.

She is a five-time recipient of World Press Photos, including 1st Prize for her 2018 National Geographic magazine story about a community in Kenya protecting elephants.

Antonio Gibotta- he is a wedding photographer in Italy


4.What NEW conclusions did you establish

Ami Vitale is a founding member of Ripple Effects Images.She is also on the photojournalism Advisory Council for the Alexia Foundation.I did establish many new conclusions about the photographers but i looked at their photos carefully.I looked at the composition, tone. high and resolution of the cameras used to capture the their images.

My major project is creating a series of 6-8. double exposure images around the concept of dreaming.Mostly for my project i am using different softwares like photoshop express, snap speed and Be funky.I would really like to use the light room app but since i have to pay for subscription i decided to use the  free ones.


RESEARCH INTO MY PROJECT.

A brief history of photography

Since my major project is on double exposure images around the concept of dreaming, i will research on how to create the images using different softwares also i will research on photographers who focuses more on creating double or multiple exposure images especially those around the concept of dreaming.After that i will now be in a position to make my own images for my final project.

I will research on history of photography, what kind of cameras were there before the modern cameras, what type of photographs were there before the advance technology in photography?

Photography, as we know it today, began in the late 1830s in France.

Joseph Niépce used a portable camera obscura to expose a pewter plate coated with bitumen to light. This is the first recorded image that did not fade quickly.


Here is an example of a double exposure images from LUKE GRAM



In this particular photograph of LUKE GRAM he joins the landscape and face of lady to create the double exposure image.He tries to focus on the landscape more rather than the portrait image of the lady.The photo seems to show that the lady has a strong desire to travel to that particular landscape.


RESEARCH THROUGH MY PROJECT.

I will be researching and testing different softwares to edit and to create the double/multiple exposure images.In order to achieve smart goals in my project i will also research more on photographers who does the same photography work as i am intended to do for my project.I will try and use photoshop software to edit my images and use snap speed for creating the double exposure images.I will also use BeFunky to edit the images.I would use light room also because my teacher recommended the software for me but the software charges for me to access the editing features.I will not be in a position to use Lightroom for editing.
I will post a new post showing how i have tried to use snap speed and may be BeFunky to create my own images.

    Please have a look at the formatting of your blog post as there is a lot of white space. You should have completed this exercise as part of your self-study for this week. Please make sure you add this to your blog as it will provide you with a plan for the project research that needs to be completed.

Research on photographers using sketchbooks or journals.

For our self study this week we were asked to research designers, filmmakers, photographers or writers who are using sketchbooks or journals in our subject area. Since my subject area is on photography I am going to do a research on photographers, look at their work and analyse their working process and also discuss what I have learnt from this research. Below are example of photographers i have been looking at their work; 1.Eric Kim Source;   Eric Kim image Eric Kim is a street photographer currently based in Los Angeles. He was born in 1988 in United State.
